Scientific and technological innovation is the transformation of an idea into a product, device or therapy that will improve clinical practice and patients' lives. At IIS La Fe we promote translational and transformative research, seeking new ways and solutions to promote people's health and wellbeing.
Our aim is to bring scientific capabilities and technological achievements from knowledge-generating centres closer to society, thus completing the axis of basic research, clinical-applied research, valorisation and transfer to the productive sector in the field of medical-hospital research.
Business Innovation Science Unit (UCIE)
The UCIE of the IIS La Fe, established in 2018, is a new unit whose objective is to provide a link between the research and development of the IIS La Fe and the Valencian business fabric through collaboration with technological institutes. The resources necessary for the operation of the UCIE are provided by the Agencia Valenciana de Innovación (AVI).

IIS LA FE, THROUGH ITS INNOVATION AREA, BELONGS TO DIFFERENT NETWORKS AND PLATFORMS.
ITEMAS. Plataforma de dinamización e iInnovación de las capacidades industriales del SNS
Since its creation in 2010, the Innovation Area has formed part of the ITEMAS Network, currently the ISCIII Platform for the Revitalisation and Innovation of the industrial capacities of the NHS, financed by the Carlos III Health Institute (ISCIII). The main objective of this ISCIII Platform is to effectively boost the industrial capacity generated by the NHS and the real transfer of the results of the research carried out within the NHS to the productive fabric.
Patent Bank
The IIS La Fe is part of the Patent Bank, a joint programme of the Generalitat and the public research bodies of the Valencian Community, which aims to promote the meeting between entrepreneurs, businessmen and centres for the generation of innovative knowledge, in order to facilitate the transfer of the technological results generated by scientists to the productive and service sectors.
INNOSALUD
The IIS La Fe is a partner of INNOSALUD, an initiative coordinated by RUVID and financed by the AVI that promotes innovative projects in health, bringing technological results from knowledge-generating centres to investors, companies and other entities, and proactively and efficiently facilitating the valorisation and transfer of research results to the productive fabric and clinical practice.
INNOTRANSFER
IIS La Fe collaborates in INNOTRANSFER, a multisectoral open innovation initiative promoted by the Red de Parques Científicos de la Comunitat Valenciana (Network of Science Parks of the Valencian Community), which aims to promote innovation in key economic sectors for the Valencian Community, supporting its Regional Strategy for Innovation and Smart Specialisation, RIS3. Innnotransfer is funded by the Valencian Innovation Agency.
