Victoria Aguilera, researcher of the Hepatology, Hepatobiliopancreatic Surgery and Transplantation group at IIS La Fe, awarded by ILTS
Dr. Victoria Aguilera Sancho-Tello has received the 2023 Advancing Equity in Liver Transplantation Award from the International Liver Transplantation Society (ILTS) for her active collaboration and publications in the last year within the committee of this society, during the congress held in Rotterdam last May.
Dr. Victoria Aguilera is a hepatologist in the section of Hepatology and Liver Transplantation at the Hospital La Fe and consolidated researcher of the research group in Hepatology, Hepatobiliopancreatic Surgery and Transplantation of the IIS La Fe and of the research group in Liver Transplantation of the Center for Biomedical Research Network of Liver and Digestive Diseases (CIBEREHD).
During her long national and international career in clinical and basic research in the field of liver transplantation, she has authored several publications. She leads a line of research on the clinical impact of cytomegalovirus infection in liver transplantation, as well as immunological aspects of it, having obtained uninterrupted competitive funding from the ISCIII and the AEEH for its development.
In 2021 he joined the EDI (Equity-Diversity and Inclusion) group of the ILTS. Since joining, she has actively participated in several papers on differences in leadership, diversity and inclusion of all professionals regardless of race, gender, religion or country of origin in the field of liver transplantation (Gender and Racial Disparity Among Liver Transplantation Professionals: Report of a Global Survey.
