La Fe Hosts Nursing Scientific Activity, Innovation, and Evidence-Based Care Conference
The Auditorium of the Hospital Universitari i Politècnic La Fe hosted a new edition of the Nursing Scientific Activity Conference and the Innovation and Evidence-Based Care Conference, aiming to showcase, share, and promote nursing research.

The event was inaugurated by Ana Sanz, Nursing Director at Hospital La Fe, who emphasized the vital connection between research, innovation, and patient care. Following this, Ángela Garrido, Head of the Competence Development Service in Community, Hospital, and Support Unit Nursing, highlighted the strategic role of nurses based on four pillars: clinical management, training, research, and education. She remarked that "aligning care with practice is essential to making progress."
Mª José Carrión, Managing Director of IIS La Fe, stressed that "strengthening interdisciplinary collaboration requires integrating all levels of care to foster more inclusive research, aiming for continuous improvement in the quality of care and patient attention."
Additionally, José Luis Poveda, Manager of the Health Department, underlined "the importance of research in uncovering new realities and improving care quality." Finally, Mariola Penadés, Director General of Research and Innovation, emphasized that "nursing serves as a bridge between doctors and patients" and that "the warmth and quality of care are not mere instrumental resources."
The representative of the Scientific Committee, Álvaro Solaz, presented the annual research report and outlined upcoming challenges, stating that "nursing research and contributions as members of interdisciplinary teams shape the profession, generate new knowledge, improve clinical practice and care, which are foundational for developing health policies and informed decision-making."
The event, now in its 18th and 9th editions, respectively, aims to share scientific activity in nursing, focusing on innovation projects in patient and neonatal care, and to recognize the effort and research capabilities of current professionals.
Presentations and Awards
The conference featured five lectures, two undergraduate theses, one Master's thesis, one residency project, three scientific publications, eight posters, and three presentations on research and innovation grants in care.
The event concluded with an award ceremony. This year's Best Communication Award went to Carolina Muñoz for her study "Perceived Experience of Women Undergoing Oncogynecological Surgery: A Mixed-Method Study". The award was presented by Juan José Tirado, President of CECOVA (Nursing Council of the Valencian Community).
The Best Scientific Publication Award was given to Lucia Pérez for her work "Neonatal Skin Antisepsis with Alcohol-Based Compared to Aqueous 2% Chlorhexidine Safely Reduces the Incidence of Catheter-Related Bloodstream Infection." She received the award from Laura Almudéver, President of the Valencia Nursing College.
In the category of Best Academic Work, Cristina Serrano was recognized for her systematic review "Burnout, Coping, and Exposure to Death in Nursing." The award was presented by Mª Jesús Company, Nursing Director for Primary Care.
The Best Poster Award was presented to Guillermo Bargues for his bibliographic review "The Use of PEG for Managing Malnutrition in ALS Patients." The award was delivered by Álvaro José Solaz, Head of the Care and Research Unit.
Closing Remarks
The conference concluded by honoring the year-long efforts of all nurses and researchers. Juan José Tirado, President of CECOVA, emphasized that "collaboration between clinical practice and research is improving, and scientific evidence must be disseminated." He further remarked that "scientific evidence is showcased through events like this."
